Ok it’s time again, for another anime review by moi. Hope you guys have been enjoying them so far. I try to put a little humor in them, make them easier to read, but I am sure that doesn’t always go over well. Oh well such is life I suppose. On to the review.
Art: (9) Great art. Really does flow through the scenes well. The backgrounds are well done, very realistic. If I could fault Production IG on anything it would be the heavy use of the borderlines, you can really see them. Which isn’t much of a bother to me, but I know many it would be so I just had to add it.
Story: (9) A very similar plot line to Bradbury’s Farenheit 451, which was interesting to me as that is one of my favorite stories. The story follows a young recruit to the library defense force. Now you might ask, why does a library need a defense army? Well if you have seen Farenheit 451 this plot line will seem very familar. Basically in future Japan, a law (Media Enhancement Law) was passed to give control of the media to the government. Yeah I know, one more thing the government can screw with. Well the law also gives the government of Japan the authority to remove, burn, or whatever else any books/reading material they deem to be corrupting to the Japanese society. That is where the library defense force comes in, they protect the materials from being lost forever. They protect the freedom of media for the public, every library has a defense force in this future. There is lots to learn from this story, which is always a big plus in my book. There is something for everybody in Toshokan Sensou.
Characters: (10) In my opinion great cast of characters. Very different personalities all in all. Iku the main character is a hot headed and almost air headed at times kind of girl. She was about the only one of the characters to really develop throughout the series. Most of the others barely showed any change, except for Atsushi. Whose really straight personality, livened up some at the end. Other than that really great, fits the anime as well as one would expect them to.
Sound: (9) Eh pretty forgettable, as I don’t even remember the opening or ending. The voice acting was by far the best part. This is why I love subbed anime, match-ups really are superb. The VA’s really got into their characters and it showed throughout the anime.
Overall: (10) Overall I would highly recommmend this anime to anyone. Specially those that like non typical romances with a little action rolled in. It was highly enjoyable to me, I do hope you keep it in consideration.
Recommendation Level: (A) What else can I say about it? Just go watch it already.
